Based in SE Qld, Australia Mark Visser, one of the world's greatest, and fittest big wave surfers travels the globe chasing the biggest surf - Tahiti, USA, Australia, Sth Africa... Gaining a reputation for his obsession with finding the biggest waves to ride, Mark has trained his body and skills to attain the ultimate goal in big wave surfing - to ride the ultimate wave.

Surfing some of the coldest, most hostile and remote waters, Mark chooses PAQUA to house his communication and safety equipment - radios, EPIRB, flares, Sat Phones etc - all carried on the jet-ski or on his body, to maximise safety, during the course of his explorations.

A REVIEW of the Shoalhaven’s lifeguard service could see patrols extended at Mollymook Beach. Shoalhaven City Council will next year renew its five-year contract with volunteer surf life saving clubs and, in the process, will review the length and extent of paid lifeguard services...

Congratulations to Herman Unsworth - Lifeguard Co-ordinator for Shoalhaven City Council (NSW) - Herman has been granted full council support for the introduction of full-scale Lifeguard services for the region - patrolling some of Australia's most treacherous coastline.

Herman has been working with PAQUA to develop some unique applications specific to his region, and we look forward to rolling out several new products in the near future, as having been tested by Herman and the Shoalhaven crew.

> Bondi Rescue Lifeguards

At the end of the APOLA conference, several council Lifeguards assisted PAQUA to determine the long-held belief that UHF/VHF radio equipment worn by Lifeguards whilst on their boards, could assist in providing even better outcomes for patients and team-members alike.

Seeing if the arm-mounted packs/radios hindered movement was key to determining the success of this application. Deano and Harries, of the Bondi Lifeguards gave their time to trial the pack and radio combination in a decent 3-4 foot swell.

The PAQUA pack and radio worked flawlessly, and the guys agreed the communication ability provided by wearing the radio in the water was a positive step. Stay tuned for further roll-outs in the 2009/2010 Summer Season...
